About Us

Who We Are

The Angelus Chorus is a volunteer non-profit community chorus whose purpose is to enrich, educate and entertain the communities of Cape May County by providing opportunities to individuals who enjoy singing in an adult group setting and bringing musical enjoyment to others.

Joining the Angelus Chorus

We are a group of 60+ singers who rehearse on most Monday evenings during the school year and meet at the Middle Township High School Choral Room. Rehearsals typically run from 7:00 to 8:30. New members are welcomed during the first month of each concert season (Sept/Jan). We request dues of $10 per concert season and typically have 2 concert seasons per year. One at Christmas and one in May or June. For more information about joining, email us at AngelusChorus@gmail.com

Our History

The Angelus Chorus was founded in 1965 as part of the now-defunct Angelus Convalescent Home, which once stood tall at 314 East Pine Ave near the Wildwood Boardwalk. The center was largely run by nuns tasked with caring for those of advanced age..

A choral group was founded to bring joy to the residents and to spread the joy of music across the county. The group lives on as a nonprofit, even though the Angelus Convalescent Home was demolished to make way for a parking lot.

Angelus Scholarship Opportunity

To encourage students seeking to develop a career in music or the arts, this year Angelus established a scholarship open to high school seniors in Cape May County. This is a one year, $2000.00 scholarship, that will be awarded to a graduating senior attending college in the fall to study vocal or choral music or the performing arts. Students involved with drama or musical theatre will also qualify for this award.

The award recipient will be selected by a committee of the chorus, based on the students’ personal statements, transcript and letters of recommendation.

Click here to download the application.

All applications and supporting materials should be submitted by email, or be postmarked no later than April 15, 2025.  The award recipient will be announced in early May. It is expected the recipient will attend the Angelus Chorus spring concert on Sunday, May 18, 2025 at 7PM in the Middle Township High School PAC Center auditorium to receive their award.
